Reduce Your Healthcare Costs

How To Reduce Your Healthcare Costs

When it comes to reducing your healthcare costs, we are on your side. We know how difficult it can be to afford healthcare in NZ and that is why we do what we do. HealthNow lets you split the cost of treatment over time, so you don’t have to pay it all at once. We make this happen across most NZ based healthcare streams using an in-app process. It matches your requirements and will always be interest-free.

By getting healthcare now and paying for it later, you have money left in your pocket. After all, no one should become financially stressed over  looking after their own health, or the health of their family. HealthNow helps New Zealanders get the healthcare they need when they need it, and removes a huge amount of unnecessary stress at the same time.

As well as becoming a regular user of HealthNow, there are some additional steps you can take to make healthcare more affordable:

  • If you need to visit the doctor, ask for generic medicines instead of brand medicines for your prescription. While you’re at the doctor, request scripts for basic medicines such as Paracetamol and IBuprofen (if required). These prescriptions are far  cheaper than non-prescription off-the-shelf brands  such as Panadol and Nurofen.
  • Have you heard of the saying “saving for a rainy day”? This is something you should practice when it comes to healthcare. When you’re feeling healthy and in no need of immediate medical help, you should still put some money aside every week. That way you’ll have some cash saved up to put towards the bills when injury or illness occurs.
  • Build a good relationship with your doctor. A doctor who knows you and your family, your medical history, and your circumstances, has a much better chance than a relative stranger of making decisions and giving you advice that will keep you healthy, out of the hospital, and in no need of specialised, and expensive, medical care.
  • Plan ahead for urgent and emergency care. When an illness or injury occurs, you must decide how serious it is and how soon to get medical attention. Responding quickly may help you avoid fees associated with  an urgent care clinic, or  emergency care.
  • Regular medical checkups can catch underlying issues early and before much more expensive treatment is required.
  • Take better care of your own health, and that of your family. The best way to reduce healthcare costs is to not have to pay them in the first place! Yes, we know unexpected injuries and illnesses do happen. But if you proactively look after the health of your family, the less you’ll need to spend on doctors or other healthcare professionals. That means eating a healthy diet, getting more exercise, sleeping properly, and giving up smoking.

Healthcare in New Zealand can be very costly. At HealthNow, we’re doing our bit to make it more affordable by sharing money-saving advice and by bringing you our “health now, pay later” service. To find out more, get in touch and we’ll reduce your healthcare expenses.
